Reflecting on the past year, I am pleased to acknowledge the significant progress we’ve achieved. Our strategic relocation to new premises in Jyväskylä in late 2023 was timely, accommodating the rising number of customer projects that demanded additional space and enhanced facilities for our technology development and growing team.
2024 has marked a period of intense activity and productivity for us. We successfully piloted our innovative 4D Scavenger® technology in recovering battery metals, won a prestigious water resource innovation challenge, and initiated multiple collaborations across all business focus areas. These accomplishments were driven by the exceptional collaboration and dedication within our skilled team, alongside the unwavering support from our diverse stakeholders.
The practical applications of our technology throughout the year have provided invaluable insights into generating the most economically viable customer and environmental value. The ongoing support from our investors and alignment with European goals for circular economy have been crucial in enabling us to concentrate on our core mission—developing solutions that benefit both our customers and the environment.

Operational highlights of 2024
We continued our work with innovative water treatment and material recovery solutions across three primary domains: mining, process industries, runoff and wastewater. Here are selected highlights:
Team growth of production and commercial operations.
1.1 MEUR invested in development, production and equipment.
Five new production and commercial partners.
- New production and laboratory facilities commissioned.
- Winning Eramet’s Water Resource Innovation Challenge showcased our 4D Scavenger® technology’s effectiveness in material recovery and reduced water usage.
- Collaboration with Vestia Oy to enhance wastewater treatment by recovering valuable metals like zinc and nickel to comply with circular economy regulations. The project demonstrates potential for economically viable metal recovery, improving material circulation by reducing the need for virgin raw materials.
- Piloting nutrient recovery systems advanced sustainable solutions in aquaculture water management.
- Participating in the REMHub project, European innovators from six countries collaborate to enhance the sustainable recovery of rare earth elements.
- BATCircle3.0 strengthens our role in advancing battery recycling and materials innovation. By joining this Aalto University-led consortium, we contribute to pioneering sustainable battery ecosystems in Finland, enhancing recyclability and circular economy practices with industry leaders.
Vision for 2025
At Weeefiner, our vision for 2025 is grounded in a resolute commitment to driving sustainable change through our pioneering water treatment and material recovery solutions. Leveraging our accumulated experience, we have continually reduced the time from discovery phase to production, ensuring swift yet efficient implementation of our technologies. Our mission remains to challenge the status quo of water treatment. We uphold our commitment to fostering an economically viable circular economy. By prioritizing the recovery and reuse of critical raw materials, we are not only reducing waste but actively contributing to the preservation of natural resources and promoting biodiversity.
2024: A Year of preparation
In 2024, Weeefiner focused on laying a solid foundation for our next phase of growth. This year was dedicated to preparing and optimizing internal processes, enhancing our technological capabilities, and setting the stage for expanded operations. Our efforts were directed toward ensuring seamless scalability and responsiveness to market demands as we enter 2025.
Our goals for 2025 are aligned with the needs of our key business domains: the mining industry, process industry, and runoff and wastewater management. In these sectors, we have amplified our efforts to deliver tangible business value. The 4D Scavenger® technology exemplifies our ability to tackle the most challenging industrial water treatment problems, presenting unprecedented selectivity and efficiency.
2025: Scaling customer projects
Weeefiner is set to scale customer projects, transitioning from groundwork preparation to actionable growth. This will involve expanding our reach, strengthening partnerships, and delivering personalized solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients. Our methodical and pragmatic approach ensures that our stakeholders — from investors to clients to public institutions — recognize the inherent value we deliver through our pioneering technologies. As a company, we understand that progress is measured not just in technological advancements but in the lasting environmental and economic benefits we provide.
